Carl Slaugh

Mission to Austria 67-69, BS Trade & Industrial Education USU 72, entered Air Force August 1973, pilot training, T-37 instructor then transitioned to helicopters; Master of Industrial Education USU 1982; retired from AF in 1993; moved to Kansas in 1993; Master of Public Administration, University of Kansas 1998, city administration work in Merriam, Hiawatha, Basehor and now Iola, Kansas. Love visiting children and playing with grandchildren.

I felt like a bump on a log in high school, enjoyed standing in the hall at lunch time and watching everyone go by. Good memories of going to basketball games and then to some small restaurant in Logan with big sandwiches and great black raspberry shakes. We loved going to the A&W drive-in, getting a gallon of root beer and then going to Bruce Axtell or Doug Miller's home to hang out with a few girls. It seemed like we would stop at Pete's Spud-nut shop and get a bunch of spud-nuts; back then I could eat a half dozen real quick. Craig Chadwick drove to school often and he would pick a few of us up, Bruce Axtell, and Dennis Sparrow.
After high school Bruce Axtell, Dennis Sparrow, Doug Miller and I went on a HS graduation trip to Las Vegas, San Diego, Disneyland, Redwood Natl Forest, San Francisco and return. We road in a 1966 Chevelle Super Sport convertible that Bruce kindly provided. Lots of good memories.
