Periodicaly, over the past 4-5 years, I had searched the web for Kalani to see if I could find out what had happened to him after High School.  Although I did occassionally find little tidbits of information, I was never able to find enough informatrion as to what really happened to him.

About six months ago, while searching the web regarding Kalani, I found the obituary of his mother (whom I had met while attending SkyView), indicating that she recently passed away and that she was buried in Sisters, Oregon. Her obituary indicated that her son (ie. Kalani) was also buried in the same Cemetary.

With the information from her obituary, I was ablle to confirm that he had indeed passed away.

The following information is what I was able to glean from the Web, regarding his post SkyView years.

After graduating from SkyView High School Kalani attended Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon.

I do not know if he earned a College Degree from Lewis and Clark, nevertheless, he eventually became a professional male model, working out of both Paris, France and New York City.

From the tidbits of information I could find on the web, he was very popular, well liked and respected within his profession.

I have included two pictures (of his professional experiences), which I found on the web.

I could not find or confirm information as to the specific details or cause of his passing, however, nevertheless from an Ancestry.com search,  I was able to confirm that he had passed away on January 11, 1987 in Deschutes, Oregon.

My personal memories of Kalani, while attending SkyView, include his friendship, his incredible talent in swimming and his ability to converse in 'pidgin english', in which (some of you may recall) we both frequently took advantage of.

Since the above information is all that I could find, regarding Kalani, after High School, I will leave with the following Hawaiian expressions:

In Hawaiian, the customary way to say goodbye is ...

Aloha nui loa (much love and fondest regards) ... A hui hou (goodbye, until we meet again).
